Shire Forums are now operational! Sybella has tried to include as many topics for both fighters and non-fighters as she could think of, but feel free to contact her if you need another forum.
There is a Candlemas forum there, to discuss current and future Candlemas events and to post concerns, questions, answers and updates.
There will be a Shire fighter practice starting on Wednesday nights at Buell Armory. Fighting begins at 6:00-6:30. The practice might eventually be shifted to Tuesday nights if that is more convenient. As with the Sunday practices, non-fighters are welcome to attend and socialize as well. For more information, contact Ekkill Ullrson(dranser@gmail.com) 859-333-3231. This has been added to our group Calendar as a regular event.
Sven is putting together a bid for Coronation. A suitable site would have to be able to accommodate 500-600 people, and would need to have a fighting area big enough for 10-man group melees. If anyone has a good site they would like to recommend, please contact Sven (or Sybella).
Candlemas-We do have Heritage Hall scheduled for the event. The cost of rental is $2200, so we are going to charge an $8.00 site fee to make sure that the cost is covered. The space that we have is half again as big as we had last year, so there should be plenty of room for all activities. Sven is going to see if we can get in Friday night, but an early Saturday morning access is more likely.
His Highness Lutr has suggested an Anglo-Saxon theme, so we're going with that. There is currently no feast site, and we may not be doing a feast at all if we can't find a site very quickly. If someone knows of a suitable site (preferably close to the day site), please contact Sven or Sybella. The Christian Church is unavailable, as they are doing an extensive expansion. They may be available next year.
We will be having merchants, and Sven has volunteered to be Merchant Liaison. There will be a merchant charge of $5.00 per table.
Sybella has volunteered to be Youth Activities Coordinator. We will have a dedicated area in the hall for that, with hopefully some craft activities as well as games, etc. available.
Heritage Hall does not allow huge coolers, only personal ones. Sven will find out the dimensions so the information can be included in the Pale ad. The site is dry, and we can't put anything on the walls, but we might have loading dock access this year, and the space we've been given is closest to the parking lot, so it should be very convenient. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to do a lunch or anything to replace feast in this space. It was decided not to utilize Heritage Hall's concessions either, which are mundane snack items and drinks.
All information must be finalized in time for the Pale Ad, which Brianne must send out by December 1st to make the January issue. The largest ad will go in the January Pale, with a smaller one in the February Pale. Brianne put the free preview ad in the December Pale.
Ullr has kindly donated two by fours and the labor to make us some nice new list barrier poles, which are sorely needed, as we are one of the Kingdom's premier tournaments. We will buy some blue-and-white rope and volunteers will make some pennants to go with them. Banner poles were also discussed, and Brianne may have some materials we can make those with. Annalyse van Gavere is List Mistress, and will need deputies. Ekkill is Marshal-in-Charge.
