Shire of Dragonsmark

Shire News

The minutes for the October 2007 monthly meeting.

Recorded by Lady Alison de Winfeld

  • We discussed the need to take minutes of Shire business for each meeting. Instead of having a dedicated recording secretary who took on the job at each meeting, we plan to have people volunteer on a meeting-by-meeting basis. Alison took notes tonight.

Alison de Winfeld, Shire Exchequer, discussed the updated equipment list. She will have it typed up and distributed by next month's meeting, but wishes to remind everyone that the Shire has a great deal of disposable plates & utensils for potlucks and other Shire functions. If you need something, ask her first instead of buying more. She also read out and discussed the new official Shire financial policy, and asked for and received many suggestions for clarifying and improving it. She will submit the financial policy at the end of the month along with the 3rd quarter report to the regional exchequer.

Sybella of Dragonsmark, Shire web minister, noted that the website is up and running! But she would like photos to add to it, so if you have any, please send them to her. The website is at www.dragonsmark.org, and her email address is listed in the officers section. She would also like officer reports, people's notes on SCA events they have attended or plan to attend, etc. She plans to add discussion forums to the website, and Arnulf volunteered to help moderate when that happens.

Sven Thorvalsson, Seneschal, led the discussion of the upcoming February Candlemas event. He noted that the Civic Center is booked up for the first Saturday of February, and that he is looking into February 16th, as there are no competing events on the Midrealm calendar. He will also contact the Thoroughbred Center and ask about their availability as a backup plan.

Candlemas feast shall be for 75. Osric will be the head cook, Brianne will autocrat, Sybella will manage children's activities, with the backup plan of being royalty liason in case children's activities don't happen. Eccol (spelling?) and/or Kato will be the marshals in charge of the tournament. Alison will be feastocrat. We still need volunteers for troll as well as some people who are willing to do various small jobs the day of the event.

Sven will bring a copy of the Pale to next month's event so we can compare similar sized events and see what they are charging for site fees. Perhaps we want to increase the site fee by a small amount, given that the Civic Center is not inexpensive?

Then we cleaned up the meeting room. The food was good and nobody died. The end. ;)
